My 1969 Oldsmobile Cutlass S W-31

Since many of you are probably wondering what my/a 1969 W-31 is or looks like, here's the details on mine.

Vin 336879M397850

Data Plate info

trim 933 which is light blue

paint 80 80 which is powder blue (a toronado only color)

build date 05D which is the fourth week of May

Some of the options on my W-31 include front drums with SSI wheels, rallye gauges, bucket seats with console, special turbo 350 transmission, 3:91 12-bolt limited-slip, heavy duty cooling, power steering, floor mats or at least what's left of them
As for the steering wheel and radio, I don't know. The current wheel is aftermarket and the radio is missing.

Other items missing include the under bumper scoops and ram air hoses, spare and standard outside rear view mirror.

As I've said the car has seen its share of Chicago winters. Both rear quarters are rusted as is the trunk floor. The lower front fenders are rusted and the rear bumper is rusted heavy and non existent in the license plate area. There is a dent in the passenger rocker under the door and some rust on the underside of the trunk lid. Amazingly enough the floor pans are pretty solid with only a couple small holes and one crack that I can remember.

The car does run and drive and it still retains the original engine, transmission, rear end, master cylinder and carb (try finding one of these). Unfortunately the motor burns oil pretty good, the accelerator pump on the carb is bad and the carb needs to be rebuilt, there is a pin hole in one of the transmission cooling lines, it has an exhaust leak and the week before Christmas '97 I was rewarded with the rear seal on the transmission giving up the ghost as I noticed a nice puddle of fluid on my garage floor.

There were four previous owners and the car was stored in a barn for six years before I bought it in July of 1996. With it being stored in a barn for six years, mice have destroyed the seats.

From the time I purchased it, until November of 1996, I with the help of my brother have rebuilt the master cylinder, replaced most of the brake lines, shocks, shifter cable, tranny fluid and filter and gave the motor a partial tune up.

Info about the W-31 option including production figures

I've also purchased a 69 442 parts car to donate sheetmetal and a few misc items.
